URL Encoder & Decoder
Encode text to URL-safe format (percent-encoding) or decode URL-encoded strings back to readable text. Supports UTF-8.
About URL Encoding
What is URL encoding?
URL encoding (percent-encoding) converts special characters into a format that can be safely transmitted in a URL. For example, spaces become %20 and & becomes %26.
When should I use URL encoding?
Use it whenever you need to include special characters, spaces, or non-ASCII text in a URL query string, form data, or API request.
Does this tool support Unicode?
Yes. It uses encodeURIComponent which properly handles UTF-8 characters, including emoji and non-Latin scripts.
What's the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
encodeURI keeps URL-reserved characters like :/?#&= intact (for full URLs). encodeURIComponent encodes everything (for query parameter values). This tool uses the latter for stricter encoding.
