About This Counter
How are words counted?
Words are counted by splitting on whitespace. A "word" is any sequence of non-whitespace characters. Punctuation attached to a word is counted as part of that word.
How are sentences counted?
Sentences are split on ., !, and ? followed by whitespace or end of text. Empty segments are ignored.
How is reading time calculated?
At 200 words per minute (the average adult reading speed). For 100 words you'll see about 30 seconds. Useful for blog posts and presentation pacing.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. All counting happens in your browser. The text never leaves your device.
